We started as a band in 1995 on a party in
my house. By this time I was very unpopular and like every other unpopular
kid I used to like very popular bands, like therapy, nirvana, exploited,
and even metallica. Good thing I was only 15 and I did this party, otherwise
Stoyan (drums, vocals) and Peter (vocals, guitar) wouldn't see me. I had
my guitar on this party - my first electric guitar that I bought just to
be cool ya know. I knew how to play some songs, and, as later Peter said
in one interview - "We liked him." It was March 1995, we were from the
same school and we all wanted to do something different than the others.
That's how probably the name came from "DIVORCED FRIENDS" - different from
everything else you have heard of. Our first song was "Tender cry" a song
about a boy that wants to be part of everything. It is a simple song, and
that's why we never recorded it, but it was the beginning. After that an
unbelievable change in my life occurred. We did some really cool songs
and we went on a concert. As you can suppose our first concert sucked,
but I felt the emotion and anxiety of being in a band. We started working
harder, more song came out, and finally we've built up our own style, that
mixes hard core, alternative, and punk's basic ideas in one unique combination
- "DIVORCED FRIENDS." But it wasn't only the band, the relationship between
us grew, I found out that the world is so big and most of the things I
thought are important were not really important. I mean - I realized that
the music you listen to doesn't make you special or better that the others.
It is the ideas expressed in the songs that make you the cool person. Then
the "LIGHTNING" (remember SNAPCASE's famous song where everything stops
and then you hear one powerful thing and it is: "LIGHTNING") came: STRAIGHT
X EDGE. Stoyan was already sXe and he kinda showed me the right way.
